1996 Band Cassette

The only actual recording from 1996-1999 of band practice I managed to still find, was recorded on cassette tape in 1996 via a really poor quality answering machine at the drummer's house. I was inspired by Trent Reznor and Kurt Cobain basically, and all the songs were whines of high school alienation hidden in semi-cryptic but easily decipherable lyrics. Like "beginner poetry reading" sort of stuff. I never did much about it, just wrote songs. That's about it.

Our band name was Noose. We existed in high school up until the millenium then sort of went our separate ways after I moved and graduated. That's to put it nicely. I've tried to reconcile and am not quite sure how things got to that point other than people changed. The drummer is now in a country band after his "gangster" roots went to Nu Metal/Durst then went to country. To be kind about it like I said, we just don't talk anymore. I also no longer listen to or make metal.

I have not been in a band since, as I was older and didn't want to be in one. Working seemed more important than taking a gamble on a far-fetched dream like this. Most bands don't make it. We probably would have ended up broke and laughable as we weren't 15 anymore haha.

These are the six songs I managed to extract from the tape:
